Last month, we were lucky enough to provide physiotherapy services for the cast and crew of Les Misérables at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver. Envision Physiotherapy been doing coverage for Broadway shows for the past several years and it’s always a very fulfilling experience. The dedication skill level of these performers is something to admire. Some people are curious and may ask “what do they need physio for?”. A typical tour involves performances six nights a week, two shows on the weekends, and with only a few weeks off in the year. Physically speaking, the demands of the vocal performances are much more than many of us realize. And the choreography of a show can vary from basic footwork to intense, dynamic styles that involve a lot of leaping, jumping, rolling and even falling.
