PILATES at ENVISION

Our Pilates Program

Envision Physiotherapy has private Pilates studios set up at both of our Vancouver clinics. We have experienced Pilates instructors from The Movement Studio working alongside our physiotherapists that have taken post-graduate training to incorporate Pilates into their practices. Together our team has the experience to help you better connect to your body.

We offer three types of One-on-One Pilates at Envision:

Clinical Pilates: Physio assessment + Pilates instructor lead sessions + physio follow ups
Private Pilates: Pilates instructor from The Movement Studio booked at your discretion
Physio Pilates: Physio appointment booked with one of our Pilates trained physios

How it Works

Your entry point to Pilates at Envision will depend on your interest and your needs. You may have started working with one of our physiotherapists and decided together that Pilates would be beneficial for you. Your physiotherapist can refer you to Clinical Pilates and work together with an experienced Pilates instructor as a Physio Support Worker (PSW). You may feel that you don’t require the input of a physiotherapist and just want to work One-on-One with an experienced Pilates instructor at one of our studios or have progressed from the Clinical Pilates program and have phased out the need for physio involvement…in which case you can choose Private Pilates.

You may require some ongoing treatment and still want to incorporate a Pilates approach to your physiotherapy exercise plan…in which case you can choose to work with one of our Pilates trained physiotherapists (see Physio Pilates below)

Clinical Pilates Process

You can start by working with any of our physiotherapists for an assessment and possibly treatment as needed, followed by a subsequent referral to an experienced Pilates instructor working as a Physiotherapist Support Worker (PSW). Your physio will help guide the process with communication documented in your chart after every session by both physio and PSW. You are required to check back in with the physio as directed (typically every six sessions) to ensure that regular communication and teamwork is established. The Clinical Pilates process usually occurs over a number of months with a goal of phasing out the need for physio involvement.

Physio Pilates Process

Four of our physiotherapists integrate Pilates into their practices as a form of movement education. Physio Pilates will likely start with assessment and treatment and may involve a transition to Clinical Pilates or Private Pilates instructors as necessary.

Suzanne Calli - MScPT

Suzanne obtained her Masters of Physical Therapy from UBC in 2016, after completing her Bachelor of Science (Honors) from Queen’s University. While completing her undergraduate degree she specialized in Neuroscience. Her interest in neurology grew through her continued education, while her interest in rehabilitation was a result of her love of sports and growing up playing volleyball. This passion continues in her practice as a physiotherapist, working with BC Rugby and with local Rugby clubs.

Suzanne is currently pursuing her Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy. She has also taken multiple post graduate courses for dry needling, and the treatment of concussions and vestibular disorders. This includes Vestibular Rehabilitation from Emory University. Suzanne is Shift Concussion Management Level 2 provider as well.

She has experience treating people of varying ages and injuries from young athletes to those with neurological conditions. Her approach includes a combination of manual therapy, dry needling and exercise, depending on the individual person.

In her free time Suzanne enjoys the outdoors whether it be exploring the local mountains, running, cycling or swimming.

Erin Gibb - MScPT, BScPHPY, IMS

Erin completed a Bachelors degree in Physiology and Pharmacology and a Masters degree in Physiotherapy in her hometown at the University of Saskatchewan. She holds further certification in IMS dry needling, concussion and vestibular rehabilitation, and clinical Pilates.

Erin has an appreciation for all sports and has worked as a physiotherapist with various sports teams at both amateur and Olympic levels, including soccer, football, and snowboarding.  Erin is passionate about helping people understand their bodies and getting people back to doing the things they love. She has a special interest in ACL rehabilitation, running injuries, and working with the adolescent population. When not treating patients, you can find Erin outdoors biking, running, hiking, snowboarding, doing triathlons or travelling.

Allison Evers - MScPT, BSc

Allison completed her education at the University of British Columbia’s Vancouver campus, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology and Master in Physical Therapy (MPT). Allison holds her Level 1 Orthopedic Manual Therapy certification and has advanced training in the assessment and treatment of pelvic floor dysfunction, including urinary and bowel control, and pelvic organ prolapse.

Allison recognizes that clients may feel self-conscious discussing the nature of their visit. She brings a sensitivity to her practice, where she promotes a respectful environment that is responsive to her clients’ individual preferences, needs, and values.

One of Allison’s goals as a physiotherapist is to empower clients by giving them the education and tools needed to manage their condition independently overtime with confidence and success!

A proud Vancouverite, when Allison isn’t at work, she enjoys running, camping, and team sports. She also enjoys time spent with her family and friends.

Marlis Vos

Marlis comes to us with a wealth of experience, knowledge and energy. She is fully certified in  all Pilates equipment and repertoire, and has been teaching for more than 15 years.

Marlis was introduced to Pilates as a 13-year-old dancer and studied Interdisciplinary Arts at SFU. She continued to pursue a successful  professional dance career in Toronto, studying under some of  the great masters of dance, Pilates, and movement therapists.

As a teacher, Marlis keeps her studies relevant with the most current innovations and body  sciences, incorporating PNF, DMS, cross chain training and fascial studies, with a particular focus  on functional movement. With a deep understanding of physiology, Pilates, and an intuitive flair for playfulness, she offers a truly unique approach in her practice. Marlis focuses  on simple, practical solutions for improved mobility in your day-to-day activities, whether it’s  standing in line at the grocery store or the best way to approach stairs, chairs and automobiles.

“Having suffered my own serious back injury, Pilates has given me the tools to assist others through the injury and recovery process at every stage of the journey”. This passion led  her to study rehabilitation through various schools and courses over the years including, ‘Rehab Through  Pilates’ from ‘Core Basics’ Centre D’Osteopathie et du Pilates 2009.  This deeply  informed her teaching  practice and it’s evidenced in her intuitive ability to work with the body. She believes that Pilates is a valuable form  of therapy often lost in the fitness category.

“I am grateful that I have been  successful in assisting so many people in their exploration toward better  movement, health, healing and a more balanced life. I teach because of the powerful restorative and versatile healing properties of Pilates. Pilates is the most adaptable form of movement, exercise and therapy for all ages, stages and changes in life. I teach because ‘I Believe’!”
