Pelvic Health

Pelvic Health for Men

Pelvic floor physiotherapy for men — pre/post prostate surgery, chronic pelvic pain, sexual function.

Pelvic Health for Men

Pelvic floor physiotherapy has an important role in helping men manage bladder control and prostate-related problems. Leaky bladder and incontinence can cause men to avoid activities, feel isolated, or struggle with confidence — and many don’t realize there is something they can do about it.

Our pelvic floor physiotherapists can help you understand the causes of your symptoms and provide exercises, biofeedback and assistive strategies to control leaking. It is especially important to understand how to activate your pelvic floor muscles before and after any procedure involving your prostate. A specially trained physiotherapist is the best-placed health professional to support you with challenges related to your bladder, bowel, prostate or pelvic pain.

What We Help Men With

A non-exhaustive list of male pelvic-health concerns we assess and treat at Envision.

Urinary Incontinence

Leaking with cough, sneeze, exercise, or strong urgency. We retrain the pelvic floor and surrounding muscles using biofeedback and real-time ultrasound to give you back control and confidence.

Pre & Post Prostatectomy

Many men experience incontinence after a prostatectomy. Pre-surgical pelvic floor training and post-surgical rehabilitation significantly improve outcomes. We use biofeedback to make sure you’re contracting and relaxing the right muscles.

Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CPPS)

Also called prostatitis, prostatodynia, or chronic nonbacterial prostatitis. We assess pelvic floor tension, posture and movement and use manual therapy, dry needling and biofeedback to retrain affected muscles.

Bowel Control / Constipation

Difficulty evacuating or losing control of stool or gas often relates to pelvic floor coordination. Biofeedback is a key tool to retrain the muscles to relax and contract on cue.

Pudendal Neuralgia

Burning, sharp or aching pain in the perineum, scrotum, penis or rectum that often worsens with sitting. Treatment includes manual therapy, internal pelvic floor release, nerve glides and pressure-management retraining.

Low Back & Pelvic Pain

Persistent low back, hip or groin pain often involves the deep core and pelvic floor. We use real-time ultrasound to retrain the timing of these muscles and resolve underlying contributors.
